New Study: The Facts About Open Access: A study of the Financial
and Non-financial Effects of Alternative Business Models for Scholarly
Journals
A new study by the Kaufman-Wills group was undertaken to examine the
effects of open access journals on traditional scientific publications.
The study found that almost half of the open access journals it surveyed
are not yet able to meet their financial costs. Nevertheless, The Facts
About Open Access found that the publishing industry as a whole acknowledges
the need to provide better access to scientific research results.
