Highlights from the symposium, Effects of Intellectual
Property Protections on the Conduct of Scientific Research: Results of
a Survey of U.S. AAAS Members, January 16, 2007
On Tuesday, January 16, SIPPI hosted a public symposium on intellectual
property protections and the conduct of research in the U.S. scientific
community. The event was held in the Auditorium of the AAAS headquarters
in Washington, DC, from 8:30 AM to 2:45 PM.
Speakers addressed several findings from a forthcoming report based on
an extensive survey of U.S. scientists' experiences with intellectual
property protections, conducted in 2006 by the AAAS-SIPPI Project, with
support from the Sasakawa Peace Foundation.
