US Trademark and Patent Fee Modernization Act of 2003
HR 1561
This bill would increase USPTO fees by approx 15-25 % and would end the USPTO's practice of diverting a portion of revenue toward other Government programs. This bill will increase the cost of filing patents but aims to enable the USPTO to respond to filings sooner. Potential fiscal costs for AAAS members are currently unable to be determined due to potential riders being added to the bill exempting small businesses.
