Database and Collections of Information Misappropriation Act

HR 3261

A Bill to that claims to protect databases from being illegaly made available in commerce to those who have not significantly contributed to them. This bill aims to give legal protections to materials in databases above and beyond the protections available under the DMCA and existing Copyright law. This is of concern to the scientific community because much of the material in question should be available in the public domain. Numerous scientific fields could experience loss of access to data should this bill become law.
