East Asian Nations Reiterate Commitment to Enforcing Intellectual Property Rights Cooperation
8 Dec 2006
On December 4, delegates from three East Asian nations participated in the Sixth China, Japan, Korea Intellectual Property (IP) Commissioner Policy Dialogue and Cooperation Conference in Beijing. The delegations restated their commitment to facilitating cooperation on matters of intellectual property rights (IPRs).
At the conference, the Chinese State Intellectual Property Office, Japan Patent Office, and Korean Intellectual Property Office were represented. Ultimately, it was agreed that suitable protections for IPRs would "promote...technological progress" and bolster the portfolio of regional investments.
A "conference summary" was signed by the commissioners of each office in attendance. At this time, little additional information is available.
